Ticket Scanning
YourRail's mobile ticketing solution is the first to be deployed within European railways. Tickets can be scanned and checked against the ticket list both on trains and at the station.

If the barcode can't be read, then the ticket information can still be found by searching on the ticket number or mobile phone number.
Together with Chiltern Railways, YourRail is first in supplying the mobile rail tickets to British travellers.
On Train Scanning
On Trains, the Train Hosts are able to scan the barcode on the handset with a PDA with built in image scanner. Please present the phone to the train host with the barcode showing, and the back light on.
Scanning at Marylebone Station
At Marylebone Station, we have installed two readers attached to the gates. These are unique in Europe and are experimental. The main limitations are that they won't accept multi-person tickets, and we have no way of displaying ticket status to the user.
How to scan your ticket at the gate
- Open the barcode message so that the barcode is visible on-screen.
- Ensure that the backlight is on.
- Hold the phone flat against the rubber surround of the scanner with the phone screen facing into the glass window.
- Ensure that the barcode is approximately central to the glass window.
- Hold the phone still - do not move or wave it around.
- If it does not scan immediately, lift the phone slightly away from the scanner.
- Once the gate opens, please walk through so the gate can close for the next person.
If you hear a bleeping sound, that means the scanner has read your ticket. If the gate doesn't open, then there may be a problem with the ticket, or with the gate. Please see a member of staff.
Staff are also able to scan tickets at the gate line and allow passengers through the Wide Aisle gate.
